Return to football - Phase 3

Garden City JFC is delighted to be able to offer all Children a Return to Play in Phase 3 of 4 phases laid out by the FAW and Welsh Government.
We have strict protocols in place that allow for the safety of your Child and all Age Groups are aware and knowledgeable of these, whether it be a training session or a match. The Club’s COVID-19 Compliance Officers attend regular FAW Webinars and receive regular FAW Updates to ensure we are compliant and up to date.

Four Phases. The FAW has worked with Welsh Government and Sport Wales to develop a four phase roadmap for the return of football in Wales. FAW will ensure the phased return is under continuous review and will advise when we can progess to phase 4.

Phase 3

What will the club will be doing to keep people safe?

There are a number of things the club has to do to ensure it complies with FAW COVID-19 policy, the major aspects are:

  • RISK ASSESSMENT - A risk assessment has been been carried out per venue. The aim of the risk assessment is to identify the hazards and quantify the risks of these hazards exposing people to the virus. An ongoing review of the assessment will take place in-line with FAW guidelines.
  • INCREASED HYGIENE MEASURES - In addition to increased player hygiene requirements as identified within "Parent & Player" responsibility, the club will ensure training equipment is cleaned appropriately at the end of each session.
  • DIGITAL THERMOMETERS - The club have purchased 2 Digital Forehead Thermometers for each of its 4 Venues so that all Players and Coaches can be temperature checked prior to training and / or a match (both home and away teams).
  • MANAGING OF TRAINING SESSIONS AND MATCHES - Ensure that player numbers are kept within the recommended limits and that attendance is recorded.
  • ENCOURAGE PARENT & PLAYER RESPONSIBILITY
  • CONSTANTLY REVIEW - The Club’s COVID-19 Compliance Officers will constantly review and update all Protocols to ensure that we are up to date with the latest guidelines and remain compliant.

Parent & Player Responsibility

The following rules and guidelines are intended to support FAW policy to allow training to be resumed in a safe way. Please support them.

  • PLAYER REGISTRATION - A huge thanks to all who have now paid half-price subs for this season. If you are new to the club or are thinking about joining, all players need to have submitted the 2020/2021 membership form, which can be found here. As we progress through Phase 3, we will provide updates on membership.
  • NHS Track and Trace - The club have registered for the Welsh Government’s Test, Trace and Protect system, as advised by the FAW. Organisations across Wales are being encouraged to have NHS QR Code posters visible, so that people who have downloaded the new NHS COVID-19 app can use their smartphones to easily check-in. St. Arvans, Hardwick, Tutshill and Beachley have all been registered separately, to enable the Government to track the virus, through the early warning system. At St. Arvans and Hardwick there are permanent posters in situ with the venue specific QR Code to scan. For Tutshill and Beachley, we have laminated copies to hand out for separate age groups to use when they access the venue for training and / or matches.
  • Player Hygiene – Players are reminded of their responsibilities across the following:

ALL players will be asked to sanitise their hands prior to and after each training session

- Strictly no handling of the ball during a training session (apart from GK wearing Gloves)

- No Throw-Ins (Pass-ins are encouraged here, as part of the new FAW Regulations)

- No hand contact (fist bumps, handshakes etc)

- No spitting!

  • SOCIAL DISTANCING -  Parents and Players are reminded of the following:

- ONLY Coaches / Players / First Aiders and COVID-19 Compliance Officers permitted in a training session (No Parents can assist with the set-up or put-away of the session).

- Parents SHOULD NOT remain at training, instead are encouraged to drop and go. If they are to remain, they must be well-away from the session.

- Players must arrive in their training kit and with their own labelled equipment (water bottle etc)

- Goalkeepers, or any player acting as a GK within the session, must wear their own Goalkeeping gloves

  • STAY AT HOME PROTOCOLS – These remain in place, which means that Players OR Coaches must stay at home if they:

- Have symptoms of COVID-19

- Have had a positive test for COVID-19 or onset of symptoms in the last 10 days (individuals who have completed their period of isolation (10 days) and have no remaining symptoms (other than a dry cough) may return to training
